How do I tell my family I am going to deploy with my national guard unit rather than stay in college?

I've decided to deploy as an infantryman with my unit in the Texas Army National Guard to Afghanistan instead of continuing my education with an ROTC waiver. How do I tell my family about this decision, knowing that I'll be crushing their dreams of me being an officer? I plan on finishing school after I get back, just not becoming an officer.
